me.com data transfer usage stats are out of whack
I decided to look at my Apple MobileMe account info today to see how much iDisk space I had used/left.Pleasant surprise on the storage. Apple has upped the storage limits once again and I have just used a tiny fraction of the 5 or 6 gigabytes I am allotted.
What was not a pleasant surprise is the site claims I have gone half a megabyte over my data transfer limits.
I have just looked at the me.com site a couple of times in the past month. That was when I was trying to see it when it first came up - and down, and up, and down - and once to read my @mac.com email. My iWeb stuff I looked at once in the past month. I just glanced at one or two small web pages.
There are no direct clues as to how my data transfer limit could have been exceeded. One possible explanation is that it has not been and the status information on the site is simply broken. Another is that Apple charged the overhead of transferring my data from mac.com to me.com.
A flaw with this limit thing is that Apple does not seem to provide a way for me to see what part of my data was transfered, when it was transfered, and where it was transfered to or from. In other words, their service does not offer any explanation at all as far as I can tell.
Apple customer service is closed now because they are 3 hours behind the East Coast. I am going to try to uncover a precise reason for why my account info should show that my monthly data transfer limit has been exceeded in light of my incredibly light access of the site.
