QuickTime 7.1 player supports Adobe Acrobat file format! (PDF)

A few minutes ago, I stumbled over the fact that Apple's QuickTime 7.1 player supports viewing PDF files!

QuickTime, along with the built-in Mac application Preview, seems to have become a universal document viewer.

You can read more about the rather impressive capabilities of QuickTime in the QuickTime 7.1 User Manual (PDF).

On a recent project I became aware of the fact that people on teams at all 3 companies were using Macs to develop the content. I found this a very interesting discovery.

Apple's superior ability to create good, solid system software and utilities that support open standards documents has really made it indispensable for business use.

A couple of hours ago, I read an article on the MacWorld UK site that said that BBC was standardizing on Macs using the Final Cut application from Apple for editing their HD television shows.

Final Cut runs on the Macintosh. It only runs on the Mac.

These examples give a clue that there is a shift towards Mac as The Solution, playing a key role in sophisticated modern day digital publishing efforts.
